Soft Towels

Posted by – July 24, 2010

This week I was asked by Samir Eskanda to produce his cover version of Bob Constant and the Goodbye Horses’s song Soft Towels.  Samir plays drums for 2 of our favourite London bands Flats and Blue on Blue and has also put Panic Attract on as a promoter many times.  Good man is Samir!  This version of the song is for an upcoming indie film set in East London.  More details to follow…

The Wrong Remix

Posted by – July 20, 2010

Earlier in the year we did a remix for our friends The Helmholtz Resonators… Well they’ve only gone and done us in return.  And it’s as wacky as we expected… loving those sleazy synths!

In other news here are some recent press clippings regarding their new single…

The 405: ”A reverberating electronic beat announces Panic Attract’s latest single as a dub tune. Twenty seconds later, however, and the merry strums of a ukele lead you red-faced into a song more reminiscent of something by Animal Collective than anything built around a ‘riddim’. If you are already fans of the band, this single is the first opportunity for you to hear how the new line-up (bringing in Noel Anderson on guitar and Matt Garner on drums) works together in the studio. The results of this new collaboration are very promising. The gleeful folk strains of ‘The Wrong Place’ are given a weirder edge with some distorted vocal effects and a chorus of Quaalude-funk. These little moments of experimentation are likely to put off some casual listeners and draw sighs from certain cynics who will dismiss the track as glorified pop. Still, approach this song with an open and not too serious mind and you are sure to enjoy it.

8 out of 10″

Indiefeed: ”This single is the portent of wonderful things to come.”

WTNR Radio: ”Glorious and slightly mad! I’ve never heard anything quite like it before, utterly brilliant!”

Radio Exile: ”Robots and ukulele funk? Rad”

IndieHere: ”Panic Attract play with hints of psychedelia, ukulele and organ which create an intoxicating pop song”

Well tata for now, kisses

xx

Show 1: Democracy On Trial

BonBonJoviJovi play again this week in another political event…. Democracy On Trial.  It is a “post-election extravaganza of poetry, music, discussion, art and film” according to our friends at Mutiny.  We’ll be doing some topical soundscape pieces which will invariably descend from good intentions to full on industrial screaming and glitch.

Resistance Gallery, 265 Poyser Street, London E2 9RF

Show 2: NO FUN

I will also be performing some sound art at the upcoming No Fun event.  It’s a new night of comedy, improvisation and spoken word put on by the King and Queen of Cable Street Studios… Samir and Zoe.  I’ll be acting as like a DJ, but without records, making some improvised sounds and art noises inbetween acts.

The George Tavern, 373 Commercial Road, E1

Come down!  We will also be announcing the first New Panic Attract show soon too… Watch this space!
